From the beginning of the project, the team underwent a series of trainings, fieldworks and lab experiments. Field works were done in different Municipalities of Benguet and the nearby Province of Mt. Province. Plants gathered in the field were dependent on focused group discussions with local people on the plants used as traditional medicine. The plants were processed in the laboratory and tested for anti-bacterial properties. Meanwhile, underutilized plants/crops were identified and using the skills from trainings on Food development, different products were produced. Mainly, underutilized crops were converted to flour to create flour-based products like cookies, tarts, muffins and noodles etc. Other fruits like berries and guava were made into jams and jellies focusing in attaining healthier methods of developing these products. Afterwhich, sensory evaluation and storability tests were done on the products.
